The only thing constant is change...

Happiness is contagious!!

In sitting and living with pain, my friend Kellie suggested reading a book. The book is titled, Fully Present: The Science, Art, and Practice of Mindfulness. By Diana Winston and Susan Smalley PhD. And even though I went to the section on pain, I found myself easily pulled to the beginning of the book an commenced to learn.

A study completed by sociologists James Fowler and Nicholas Christakis in 2008 demonstrated that happiness can spread through social networks. I do not think that is a surprise to any of us, since if we are paying attention and you are posting and reading on social media that a happy idea with animals or funny incidences they are shared all over the place. Just as we have seen the rants of negativity catch like the flu.

But, the study also found that "you can contract happiness about 25 percent of the time if a friend who lives within a mile of your home becomes happy, 34 percent of the time from a next-door neighbor, 14 percent of the time from a brother or sister living within a mile, and only 8 percent of the time from a live-in husband, wife or partner. The data shows that happiness can spread, but the mechanism for how that happens is not yet known."

I have heard that dogs sense when you are almost home and they know you are coming. I have always been curious about that. I would love to hide a camera in the house and see if that is true.

We are all energetic beings, our energy is shared with others whether we like it or not. Taking the simple idea of a smile is contagious, is a perfect way to make the world a better place. It can be applied everywhere. How about letting others out in traffic? Have you noticed when people thank you for your kindness the feeling goes forward. When one is not "thanked" for their kindness, it can be the end of that for awhile. Changing the wave can change your day. Run an experiment and observe. See how it goes.
